It's been a while since we've seen anything from the melodic, aussie, metalcore group Make Them Suffer, but hopefully the release of another single after 27 (which now seems an age ago) will precede the release of a 3rd album to follow on from Neverbloom and Worlds Apart.
To call the song 'in your face' would be an understatement, buried in your face maybe, but altogether it attacks the dark hearts of those villainous enough to commit acts of sexual violence. It holds and swirls all of the aggression that an act like that deserves in response.
Vocalist Sean Harmanis gives a furious performance, at times coming over like a man possessed with rabid like screams, such as the epic "FUCKING COWARD, THAT'S SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER" - direct as direct can get, no wasted words, yet with all the heart that the songs subjects lack.
Musically speaking it encapsulates the pain and churning chaos created by such vile acts. It's an auditory assault, meant to invoke feelings of terror and unease. Less melodic than the previous single certainly, but by no means any less creative.
Make Them Suffer have slipped in to my library and presently planted themselves as a permanent resident following Neverbloom, the more recent Worlds Apart, and thanks to their most recent single Hollowed Heart; a cleverly created, chaotic masterpiece. Deeply emotional, tapping in to the torturous pains of our time, in a ravenously aggressive and technical showcase. I bar has firmly been set for the album that should follow, more on that when it arrives.
