Australian Metalcore monsters Make Them Suffer have just delivered us a monumental single, 27 is immense for so many reasons. The first piece of new material since their record Worlds Apart, last year, sees a new twist and some curious lyrics. Let's do it.
My sweet sponge-bob this is epic!! There's taking the new age and intertwining it with music but I never thought that programming and computer lingo would end becoming the lyrics to my new favourite song. Yeah, I'm there already. Until you've heard someone scream in Binary code, and honestly never thought I would, then you haven't heard it all. Certainly the novelty hasn't worn off with the first 10 plays of this track. On top of that they're good, they make sense, rhyme well and genuinely aren't just gimmicks.
This track still has everything that Make Them Suffer have led us to expect from them, draw-dropping riff/vocal combo's, insanely original lyrics and haunting melodies both from the keys and clean vocalist Booka Nile.
Straight to the throat from moment one, the track enters at full pace, delivering ferocity in ample amounts. After the melodic chorus, with the soaring clean vocals giving a brilliant balance we're brought back to verse 2 and another chorus. Then, just when you think that it couldn't get any better, you find yourself descending into a whole new realm of chaos, the song tailing off with some of the most sinister guitar writing I've seen from the Perth-based group before the final chorus. Bliss. Sheer bliss.
It makes me very happy to see bands pushing themselves to areas that others haven't gone before. It's we will continue to push the boundaries of art, what we call art and that which simply sparks creative light. These things are not to be overlooked, especially in a world of growing saturation.
