Cove - A Conscious Motion

I've been looking and listening to these guys ever since this EP came out. It's rammed with catharsis and emotional release, i'm sure we can all agree we need a little of that here and there. Kent-based hardcore crew Cove delivered to us their second EP just a few months ago and A Conscious Motion is definitely not one to be missed!

The EP opens with the emotionally exploratory Coincide:Collide, with its moody build-up and driving/rousing drums, into Solis; a chaotic mess of groovy hardcore goodness, viscerally aggressive (in an early-Architects sort of way) and on to All I Believe before the close. Obviously I don't want to give too much away here!

Cove are a refreshing band, clearly taking influences from some differing locations. A hardcore outfit, with similarities stylistically to early-Architects but then with this alt, Deftones-esc sound about them. It creates something really interesting and I'm excited to see the creativity and originality of these boys put to the test on a full release.

They've definitely stepped up their game up with this second EP, showcasing their originality and ability as songwriters to collate influences and create something unique to them and begin to find their niche. I see a big few months for these guys ahead and am looking forward to finally getting an eye-line on their live show.

Currently on tour supporting the underground hardcore kings that are Palm Reader this July, Cove are definitely not one to miss, you'll only regret it later.

Sequel's are always tough...
