Album review time everybody! Took a little break from the norm with the last, but here we're looking at the newest offering from the Metalcore giants who are Bury Tomorrow - this being their fifth album I've been prepared for something truly special and if the name-sake, Knife of Gold and The Age are anything to go by, we're in for a serious treat.
Lets just start with this - No Less Violent, the album opener, is immense. Rousing, driving and full of hope, it opens the album perfectly as lead into Adrenaline. Moving past the awesome namesake into the remorseful My Revenge and the powerful More Than Mortal. Lyrically cutting and aggressive, with all the hallmarks of the classic Metalcore of the 2000s, it's just great.
Through the chaotic KoG and The Age we end at the final three, Stormbringer, Overcast and Peacekeeper. I've always felt it important to finish an album strongly, too many invigorate up to about 7 songs in and then lose the draw/the pull, but with Black Flame they've done incredibly well, delivering three absolute belters to close up - passionate and unrelenting, but i'll allow you decide the rest for yourself.
What I find with this album is this - it's refined and detailed whilst being clear and un-muddled, it has the heart, passion and ferocity that underlies any great record and as yet I can't find a single track that doesn't fall into this category. I have to say I think that this is vocally the best album yet. Both James and Dani showing their experience, presence and ability at full flow - powerful eloquence to rival even the greats of old.
They've stepped up in every department, each and every one of the band sound as if they are in their prime on this record and for this and many other reasons, Black Flame will last long in the memory.

So BT5 then. We have it folks, and it's something else. Black Flame has already become the best album of the year for me, and I have to say it's possibly their best yet. They've delivered to some quality records, some of my favourite of all time but they've outdone even themselves here.
Round 5 in the battle for the Metalcore Crown - who wants to be king?
BT5, in all it's glory: 9/10
