Fire From The Gods - Narrative

Evening everyone! Time to get cracking on some back log; I may be late getting to it but this album was one I would say needed a little longer to crack. I'm talking about the incredible debut record from American hardcore/hip-hop fusion Fire From The Gods. Narrative was, admittedly, released almost two years ago, however last year we were treated to a re-release of their debut with two additional tracks produced by Korn's Jonathon Davis, so I figure I'm allowed a run at it (despite the lateness).

The first thing that I noticed with these guys is how well put together their fusion of styles is. In the wake of nu-metal giants like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park this sort of style can come across gimmicky but for me they've saved themselves with a perfect balance. The balance achieved is displayed best in the two standout tracks from the record; End Transmission and Excuse Me

End Transmission is very melodic and calming, whilst remaining heartfelt. The use of his vocal range here shows us that vocalist AJ Channer has all the makings of a great singer and when you couple this with the distinctly different Excuse Me where we see Channer bring out his rap game and the influence from his upbringing between the Bronx (New York), Ghana and London (UK).

I can see these guys taking off very quick, not least with them already being signed to Rise Records, that's a statement in and of itself. The re-release, Narrative: Untold, contained a couple of extra tracks, including the awesome The Voiceless. Come back to get my thoughts on this.

So, how did the Texan's come out against the rest?
Nu age metal/hip-hop fusion: 6/10
Top picks: End Transmission, Excuse Me, In Spite Of Doubt

Narrative was released August 26th 2016 via Rise Records:
